The NFL regular season is a third of the way complete, many players have been making statement games, teams have been surprising the league, and some have been disappointing their fans. Here’s your recap of week six.

Overall Player of The Week

Typically, I do an offensive and defensive player of the week, however, this week Jaguars wide receiver and cornerback Travis Hunter made big plays on both sides of the ball.

Late in the game, with the Jaguars down on the scoreboard, they marched down the field thanks to a few big catches from Hunter, including a touchdown. The Jaguars then went on defense and allowed the Texans to move the ball all the way down to the end zone, but when Texans QB CJ Stroud threw into the end zone, Hunter came up big on defense with an interception.

The Jaguars went on to still lose the game 34-31, however this Hunter gave the team everything he could, and the rest of the team couldn’t get the job done.

Best Team of The Week

To nobody’s surprise, the Kansas City Chiefs look like one of the best teams in the league, and they continued showing that this week with their 22-6 victory over the Los Angeles Chargers.

The Chiefs passing game wasn’t necessarily anything crazy, Patrick Mahomes completed 22 passed on 30 attempts for 272 yards, 0 touchdowns and 1 interception. The rushing game is where things stood out offensively, with Kenneth Walker III rushing 19 times for 128 yards and 2 touchdowns. Defensively, the team combined for 4 sacks, and had an interception. An overall great performance for the team.

Worst Team of The Week

The Dallas Cowboys looked like they didn’t want to win against the Green Bay Packers. Continuously making costly mistakes and simply looking out of it, like they didn’t want to be there.

Cowboys QB Dak Prescott fell victim to a second straight week of being under relentless pressure from the opposing defense as they constantly sent a blitz that the Cowboys offensive line could not stop. Prescott threw 2 interceptions, one of them being completely his fault, the other being on wide receiver CeeDee Lamb who slipped and fell as Dak threw to him, resulting in the ball being intercepted by the cornerback behind Lamb. The Cowboys looked solid running the ball, however when Javonte Williams rushed for a touchdown during the 3rd quarter, the Cowboys ran 37 plays after that and 36 of those plays were passes, clearly showing that they easily drift away from the run game even if it’s their best option.

MVP Race

In third place is Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes. He has played winning football all season so far which is why his team is sitting comfortably at 5-0. Mahomes has continued to be the elite QB the league knows he is, and looks great despite coming off a bad knee injury last season.

In second place is Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen. Allen has his team at a 5-1 record, and just about every week he has put up big numbers in the passing and running game. The Bills would not be in the position they’re in without him, and they’ll continue to look like one of the best teams in the league because of him.

In first place is San Francisco 49ers QB Brock Purdy. Purdy has his team at 6-0, and has played flawless every week, he currently has 14 touchdowns and only 2 interceptions, he also finds himself just outside the top 10 in passing yards leaders. Purdy is looking to win his first MVP this year, and also looks to bring the 49ers back to the Super Bowl for the 2nd time in his career, and the 3rd time in the past 7 years for the 49ers as a whole.
