As the long off-season is coming to a close, NFL teams have prepared for the new season making their final cuts down to a 53 man roster, keeping the talent they believe to be best suited for the team. Some teams have the possibility to make a huge step up from last season, here are those teams.

Minnesota Vikings

The Vikings weren’t totally terrible last season despite their slow start and rough QB play out of J.J. McCarthy, they finished with a 9-8 record and third in the division. This season they have Kyler Murray at QB who’s had his fair share of bad seasons playing for the Arizona Cardinals, but that was mostly to the fault of the Cardinals whose roster hasn’t been good the past few seasons. Kyler Murray now has the opportunity to play with a top receiver duo in Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison, along with tight end T.J. Hockenson so long as he stays healthy.

The Vikings will have to overcome a relatively difficult schedule, and fight their way through a tough NFC North division, but as long as Murray is capable of being a half decent QB who can get the ball to Jefferson and Addison, you can almost guarantee a floor of 9 wins, and a ceiling of 11 wins.

Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys have had an extremely interesting off-season, which is easy to say every year due to the drama involved, but this year has been different. This off-season Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones has made multiple moves and has had no drama, which is extremely unusual for him and the Cowboys, considering just last year the off-season had been filled with the Micah Parsons drama.

The Cowboys started the off-season strong by firing defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus after how terrible the defense played all season. Matt Eberflus was replaced by Christian Parker who previously was the passing game coordinator and defensive backs coach for the Philadelphia Eagles. So far during training camp and the pre-season the defensive has looked confident and capable of executing the schemes, a huge step from last year where it seemed like they had no idea what Eberflus’ schemes were.

In addition to this, the Cowboys have added many players such as Rashan Gary, Jalen Thompson, Cobie Durant, Von Miller, and most notably the rookie out of Ohio State, Caleb Downs. Gary and Miller will add much needed depth to the Cowboys defensive ends, Thompson should be the best safety the Cowboys have had in a few years, and Downs will also play a huge role at safety. Durant is a solid cornerback who will provide some much needed help in cornerback room that was awful last season. To top things off, their other rookies Jaishawn Barham and Malachi Lawrence are also much needed defensive players who will only help this team get better.

The Cowboys should finish this season with a floor of 9 wins, and a ceiling of 12.

New Orleans Saints

The Saints went into last season with everybody expecting them to be one of the worst teams in the league, they ended up finishing with a 6-11 record which by no means is good, but it also didn’t make them one of the worst teams.

During the first half of the season when Spencer Rattler was the starting QB the Saints went 1-7, after this they decided it was time to bench Rattler and give their rookie QB Tyler Shough a chance, with Shough starting they had a 5-4 record, to bring them to their 6-11 finish. Now this year Shough will have the whole season to prove why he is the clear starting QB in New Orleans and could easily push for a playoff spot if the NFC South is close to being as bad as it was last season.

The Saints do have to deal with running back Alvin Kamara being out with an injury for a few weeks, however that won’t matter too much because the acquired Travis Etienne Jr during the off-season, who will undoubtedly bring a much needed spark to the backfield that Kamara doesn’t have as much of anymore especially after an injury.

The Saints should have a floor of 8 wins, and a ceiling of 10.
