Week 3 of the NFL season wrapped up with a double header on Monday night, and week 4 will start with Thursday Night Football between the Cowboys and Giants, lets recap the best and worst performances of week 3.

The Worst

At number three is Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb, who had arguably the worst game of his career.

Lamb caught 4 passes out of 7 targets for 67 yards, but had a crucial fumble in the redzone resulting in the Baltimore Ravens getting the ball back, multiple dropped passes also resulted in drives stalling and in the end the fumble plus the drops possibly costed the Cowboys the game. Lamb also showed really bad attitude towards his teammates on the sideline and even skipped post game conferences, but has since apologized.

In all fairness the Ravens defense did double team him during most plays, but even then the dropped passes were when he was pretty open and the fumble had nothing to do with double coverage.

At number two is Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud who played a lackluster game which resulted in a big loss to the Minnesota Vikings.

Stroud completed 20 of out 31 passes for 215 yards, 6.9 yards per attempt, 1 touchdown and 2 interceptions. This was a very bad game for a QB like Stroud who is usually much better not turning the ball over, the lackluster performance resulted in the Texans losing 7-34 to the Vikings.

In all fairness to Stroud, Vikings defensive coordinator Brian Flores has made this Vikings defense very good and even got praise from San Francisco 49ers QB Brock Purdy after beating the 49ers in week 2.

At number one is New England Patriots QB Jacoby Brissett, who had a very hard time against the New York Jets.

Brissett completed 12 passes on 18 attempts for only 98 yards, 5.4 yards per attempt, 0 touchdowns and 0 interceptions. While he was completing passes the majority were checkdowns relying on the receiver to get a lot of yards after the catch which was just not going to happen against the Jets.

In all fairness, the Patriots offensive line played terrible and didn’t give Brissett many opportunities against the Jets pass rush.

The Best

At number three is Ravens runningback Derrick Henry, who had his best game with the Ravens yet.

Henry ran the ball 25 times for 151 yards and 2 touchdowns, along with catching 1 pass that he took for 23 yards. Henry broke tons of tackles which resulted in many big plays for him including a 26 yard touchdown run.

Henry had played decent in the first 2 weeks with the Ravens, not having a ton of yards but ran for a touchdown each week, this week he was given the opportunity to exploit the Cowboys poor run defense and he capitalized off of the opportunity.

At number two is 49ers wide receiver Jauan Jennings, who stepped up big with Deebo Samuel out.

Jennings caught 11 passes for 175 yards and 3 touchdowns against the Los Angeles Rams, playing the best game of his career by far, but it still wasn’t enough because the 49ers lost to the Rams in the end.

Jennings hasn’t had opportunities to have a phenomenal game like this in the past due to the fact Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk are the two main receivers on the team, but the way he took advantage of this opportunity is likely going to show 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan he may need to get Jennings involved more.

At number one is Washington Commanders QB Jayden Daniels who lit up the field against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Daniels completed 21 pass attempts out of 23 which is a very high 91.3% of his passes being completed, and those completions went for 254 yards and 2 touchdowns, he also ran 12 times for 39 yards which isn’t a lot but it was enough to lead the team in rushing yards, and he also got 1 rushing touchdown on top of that.

Daniels has now led the Commanders to a 2-1 record and has looked like the best of the rookie QB’s. He passed for his first career touchdown against the Bengals and the pass was thrown to offensive linemen Trent Scott.

Honorable Mentions

This week had lots of great performances which made it hard to choose the three best performances, so here are some guys who could’ve made it.

Carolina Panthers QB Andy Dalton completed 26 passes on 37 attempts for 319 yards and 3 touchdowns, this resulted in the Panthers first win of the season which came against the Las Vegas Raiders. This was a great first game for Dalton this season following the Panthers decision to bench Bryce Young.

49ers QB Brock Purdy completed 22 passes on 30 attempts for 292 yards and 3 touchdowns, he also ran 10 times for 41 yards, this was a great performances for Purdy despite the fact he was missing many star players such as wide receiver Deebo Samuel, runningback Christian McCaffrey, and tight end George Kittle.

Cowboys QB Dak Prescott completed 28 passes on 51 attempts for 379 yards and 2 touchdowns, along with 2 rushing attempts for 7 yards and 1 touchdown, those stats very easily could’ve gotten Prescott in the top three this week but a majority of them came in a fourth quarter effort to come back, the stats before that point in the game didn’t look nearly that good.

Jets QB Aaron Rodgers completed 27 passes on 35 attempts for 281 yards, 2 touchdowns and 0 interceptions, he also ran the ball 3 times for 18 yards. This looked like a vintage Rodgers game and Jets fans are going to be very happy if he keeps this up.

Ravens QB Lamar Jackson completed 12 passes on 15 attempts for 182 yards and 1 touchdown, he also ran the ball 14 times for 87 yards and 1 touchdown. Just like his teammate Derrick Henry, he took advantage of the Cowboys poor run defense which is really what gave the Cowboys no chance.

Rams runningback Kyren Williams ran the ball 24 times for 89 yards and 2 touchdowns, he also caught 2 passes for 27 yards and a touchdown. This performance from Williams was very needed due to the Rams superstar receivers Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua being out, and it ultimately propelled them to a win.

Looking Forward to Week 4

Week 4 will kick off with the Cowboys at the Giants on Thursday Night Football, the Giants will be looking to continue with how well they played last week while the Cowboys will be looking to bounce back from the 2 game losing streak. The Bengals will be looking for their first win of the season against the Panthers while the Panthers are hoping Andy Dalton will do what he did in week 3 and propel them to another win. The week will end with another Monday Night Football double header, with the highlight of the night being Seahawks at Lions which is bound to be a classic.
