The New York Jets have been looking for their first playoff appearance since 2010, and most people thought this could be the year with quarterback Aaron Rodgers being healthy, but the Jets had a rocky start to the season. The Jets then gave their fans hope again after news broke on Tuesday October 15 that the Jets had traded for wide receiver Davante Adams.

The Jets were sitting in the bottom of the AFC with a 2-4 record before the trade, and many thought this would be the move that sparks the Jets and helps them start winning. Adams being one of the best receivers in the league and having chemistry with Rodgers already from their time with the Green Bay Packers was supposed to be the reason the Jets offense would finally become more explosive, and the offense did seem a little better, but common errors that show up every week are still there.

In the Jets game on Sunday night against the Pittsburgh Steelers the offense started off strong with running back Breece Hall putting on a show due to most of the Steelers defense being focused on Adams, but after the Jets got a 15-6 lead everything stopped. The Steelers dominated the rest of the game and won 15-37. Steelers QB Russell Wilson lit the Jets defense up in his first game starting this season, and the Steelers defense got 3 interceptions.

On October 8, the Jets fired head coach Robert Saleh and made defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich the head coach. Many people online disagreed with the decision to fire him and said he wasn’t the problem which so far has proven to be correct as the Jets have lost the 2 games Ulbrich has coached.

The Jets offense and defense is good enough to be a playoff team but the common problem has been failing to execute, the Jets offense this year with Rodgers healthy has only been slightly better than last years offense with Zach Wilson, it’s sad but true. The defense continues to play decently well but the offense can’t seem to take advantage of that and get a demanding lead.

Adams is still a very good player and can help the Jets win more games, but many repeated mistakes and errors need to be cleaned up, and playoffs are going to require that they clean up those errors now and start winning games because a 2-5 record is not favorable if playoffs are still the goal at this point.

The Jets great roster has no reason to struggle the way they are, and the fact they haven’t made the playoffs since 2010 isn’t great either, so until they can start winning games and make a push for the playoffs it’s safe to say they are a cursed team.
